"1988 Ford Aerostar: The Driver Side Front Brake Failure"

1988 Ford Aerostar Mini Van

I have an 1988 Ford Aerostar, and the driver side front brake won’t release. I’ve already replaced the caliper, but that hasn’t fixed the problem. Is there some other part of the brake system that would control the release of the brake pad.

Answer: You most likely have a bad brake hose. Due to age and degradation of the rubber internally collapses and acts like a one way pressure valve. Pressure in the brake system passed the restriction in the hose is not released when the brakes are released. You also want to make sure that the slides were properly lubed when the calipers were installed. If you change the brake hose, you should replace both at the same time. Good luck.
