"1991 Ford Explorer: Heater Core Replacement"

1991 Ford Explorer Heater Core

I am going to replace my heater core in my 1991 Ford Explorer, as far as having the a/c system evacuated. Do I have to do this if there is very little in the system? I do not use the a/c so can I change the heater core without having this done?

Answer: Actually, it is pretty easy to do. Remove the glove box assembly, the case cover is right there. Remove the 2 heater hoses under the hood. Remove the inside cover screws and the core unbolts and comes right out. It only pays 1.2 hours in a shop. There is no a/c involvement.
