I need to replace the fuel pump on an 2001 BMW 330Ci. Anyone know how to loosen the ring on top of the fuel tank, the one that holds the pump to the tank?
It has some indents that you can hit and maybe make the ring turn but I
want to make sure that’s the way to loosen it up. Any links to this?
Answer: The right way
to remove it is to use a special tool that has several lugs that fit
into the indentations of the big ring/nut. But it can also be done by
using a wooden or plastic piece put into the indentations of the ring
and hit from behind by a mallet (preferably a non metallic one).
