Does anyone know how can I tighten the alternator belt on a 1983 Buick LeSabre with the 305 V-8 engine? I can get it loosened at the pivot bolt and at the two adjusting bolts, but can’t fine the leverage to move the alternator enough to get the belt to tighten. Any ideas or solutions?
Answer: After you loosen the bolts stick a pry bar or crow bar between the alternator and apply pressure until the belt is tight then tighten the bolts.
