2005 Honda Accord V6 Front View |
I just bought a used car and it came with a navigation system. It is an 2005 Honda Accord V6 engine. The message says I should see my dealer. But I don’t want to pay 150 bucks for the DVD. Can someone give me an a link for a free download or where I can buy one cheaper.
Answer: First of all, you can buy the owner’s manual at http://www.helminc.com.
If the message you are getting is the “disc reading error; please see your dealer” here is what the owner’s manual says about that:
Check the DVD disc surface for deep scratches or other damage. Make sure you are using an official Honda navigation DVD (orange in color). The system cannot read other mapping databases or video DVDs. If the problem persists, see your dealer.
There is a chance you have a damaged disc or no disc in the NAVI if you bought it used. you can often buy the NAVI disc on EBAY; buying a new disc from Honda is incredibly expensive.
Chances are that the system can be rebooted if you have the audio and NAVI anti-theft codes to enter. If you don’t have the codes, check inside the glove box for a white label that has a 4 digit NAVI code and a 5 digit stereo code. You will need them to reboot the system; otherwise neither will work if you try this. To reboot the system, take both battery cables off of the battery. Then hold the two disconnected cable ends together and continue to hold them together for 5 minutes. Then connect the positive then negative cables. Use the anti-theft codes to start the audio system and NAVI system using the Navigation display key pad to enter those codes. Again, if you don’t have the codes, don’t try this because the audio and NAVI won’t work after the battery is disconnected as the systems will go into anti-theft mode.
Once the system is reactivated, park the are in an open area like a mall parking lot then turn the NAVI on. it will take up to 15 minutes to locate satellites and restart. Hope that helps
