1994 Lexus ES300 Rear View |
I have a 1994 Lexus
es300 that is smoking white out of the exhaust. The exhaust smells like
gas and there was gas in the oil before I recently changed the oil. No
antifreeze in oil! I brought it to a shop and they diagnosed it codes
p304 and p306 have a random misfire. Have been told the ecu so I had
bought one from a junk yard and still white smoke. Please help me fix this problem and I’m hoping its an easy fix.
Answer: P0304 is a misfire in the number 4 cylinder (that is the one in the middle in front of you when you open the hood). P0306 is a misfire in the number 6 cylinder (that one is to the right of number four). Start with the basics and check your plugs wires and coils first. If those are good then check your injectors you can do this by unplugging the injector connector and plugging it back in one at a time for each injector. What you are looking for when you
do this is a change in the way the engine runs. You should notice the
engine run rough as you unplug the connector for the injector. If there
is no change then that injector is not working. Next you have to check
if there is any power going to that injector. This can be done with a
noid light. You just plug the noid light in to the connector for the
injector that you suspect isn’t working and start the engine. If there
is power going to that connector the light will flash rapidly. You can
usually rent the one you need from most auto parts stores. If the light comes on when you start the engine then you have a bad injector, if not then it is an electrical problem and you will have to do more testing.
