Where can I locate my OnStar GPS tracker in my 2010 Chevrolet Malibu?
Answer: You cannot disable the GPS tracking transponder without disabling the OnStar computer or canceling your OnStar subscription. The OnStar GPS tracking transponder
is an essential part of the OnStar automatic crash response and
emergency locator in the event of an accident and it is a component in
both service plans, the cheap Safe & Sound plan and the more
expensive Directions & Connections plan. To disable the GPS tracking transponder
you can cancel your OnStar subscription or disable the OnStar computer
by removing the OnStar fuse. The fuse powering the OnStar computer on
the 1999-2002 Chevrolet vehicles is in the fuse block under the hood and
the fuse is labeled SEO 1 (special equipment option 1). There is also
an SEO 2 fuse in that fuse block but it does not power the OnStar
computer. On the 2003-2006 Chevrolet vehicles the fuse is labeled INFO
and it is also in the fuse block under the hood. The fuse on the
2007-2010 Chevrolet vehicles is in the instrument panel fuse block and
it is labeled ONSTAR. The instrument panel fuse block on your 2010
Malibu is on the passenger side panel of your center console and the
fuse will be labeled ONSTAR. You can easily verify that the OnStar
system is disabled after removing the fuse powering the OnStar computer
because the OnStar light will be off. Another way to disable the OnStar
system is to unplug the OnStar antenna and you can verify that there is
no OnStar transponder signal because the OnStar light will turn from green to red.
