"EPC Indicator Problems on 2003 VW Polo"

Blue 2003 VW Polo

I have a VW Polo 2003 (automatic transmission). Last week, I realized that the car, after some distance, speed, stops and displays from the EPC. When this happens, the car is moving slowly and when I step on the gas, nothing happens – just not rev at all. When I start the car after a few hours later, rev counter for a few seconds even with the EPC light on and then to refuse to rev/throttle. I’m confused.

Answer: It could be a faulty accelerator position sensor, or a bad sensor in the throttle body. EPC stands for Electronic Pedal Control, i.e throttle-by-wire. One thing to try before taking it to a dealer would be to disconnect the battery for 20 minutes the reconnect it – this will reset the computer and might fix the problem.
