"2007 Volvo V70: Tires Aspect That Can Be Change"

2007 Volvo V70 Front Right View
My tires are this size: 195 60 R15 88V on a 2007 Volvo V70 2.5 turbo diesel. I understand the 88V is to do with speed and load and that can’t change (for insurance reasons). If I don’t want to change the rims currently on the car what can I change? For instance could I go for a 205 instead of a 195 and what are the implications? Thanks!
Answer: If you go to www.tirerack.com and shop for specific tire brands, 205 tire sizes will have a higher load rating. Open the word: Survey under the tires to see what tests are most important to you. In your particular case the current tire size (195 60 R15) *88V = load index. The higher the load index rating the more weight the tires will carry. V speed rating = 149 MPH or 240 KMH One other thing to be aware of: The larger the tire with the same aspect ratio (60) will slow down your speedometer reading on the dash. All you have to do to correct this is to choose a larger tire with a lower aspect ratio which is the center number of your tire size. Go to the: Spec. chart an open it and notice the *Revolutions Per Mile of the next larger or two sizes larger size tire. Now search for a smaller aspect ratio such as a 55 or 50 aspect ratio tire that rolls as close to your tires per mile.
