"4th Gear Delay (Transmission) Problems on 1994 Toyota Corolla"

1994 Toyota Corolla

The transmission on my 94 Toyota Corolla had a problems. It won’t go into 4th gear, unless the car has been running for like 5 minutes.  So I just wanna know what it is about. Imagine,  can’t be going 55 miles an hour in 3rd gear!

Answer: This vehicle uses a thermostat switch to restrict 4th gear until the engine reaches 141 degrees. The thermostat in the engine could be slightly stuck open, thus slowing the warm up time. Does the temp gauge go all the way to Half?
As stated above, check the fluid level (when hot). And always have the transmission serviced every 30K.
