| Mercedes-Benz AMG E55 |
I want to transplant in a whole set of Mercedes-Benz AMG parts into a 1996 Mercedes E320. They made one called the E55 that was basically identical except for a better engine and transmission. So, I’m wondering if that’s possible to do?
Answer: I am sure you can, but I think it would be nearly as cheap to just buy a regular Mercedes-Benz AMG version. You can get a 1999 or 2000 E55 AMG for about $16K to $17K if you look around. I would expect the cost to buy an AMG engine along with the transmission and needed suspension, exhaust, etc… and the time or money to install it all would cost nearly as much as buying a regular one, plus if you sell your existing E320 then it would probably end up being overall cheaper by just buying a different one.
