"1989 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 Power Window Problems"

Black 1989 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6

Okay so my rear right 1989 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 power window doesnt work, this isn’t a huge deal but the problem is that part that pushes the window up or down on the track is at the very bottom, this could be an issue because you can just push the window down (obviously stealing or breaking in is now so easy I may as well not have locks! lol) I was wondering if anyone has any ideas? I would assume since its not the switches or fuses I am in need of a new motor? thanks.
Answer: Why do you say it is not the switches or fuses? Does the motor work? When you push the switch, does the window arm move up and down? If so, then it is the Window Regulator Bushing, a small square plastic piece that mounts to the power window regulator arm and goes into the window’s rail channel. The original piece is riveted on and you should be able to see the riveted piece still on the arm and pieces of the broken white square piece somewhere in the door. The quickest and easiest fix for this is to get the Windows Regulator Bushing from you local MB dealer for about $10.00, take apart the square Bushing and go to your local hardware store and find a nut and screw combination that is similar in diameter (with a shallow head) to the metal rivet. Put the pieces (substituting the rivet with the nut & screw combo) together to see if the bolt fits into the square piece properly and that there is some space for the head to rotate (too much space and the piece will eventually break again quickly). Next drill out the rivet that is on the window arm (can do this without removing window regulator arm) with a drill bit that is slightly larger in diameter than the nut. Put Windows Regulator Bushing into the window rail channel (with a lot of grease), line up the window arm with the window channel and bolt back together with a washer and that should take care of your problem.
If you motor is bad/dead, then it is a much more involved process and I would look for a complete used windows regulator and motor assembly.
