2002 KIA Rio Engine |
Okay this is what I’ve got, my 2002 KIA
Rio shudders when moving away at junctions and also seems to lose power
sometimes. The check engine light is on. Mechanic told me it could be
throttle pedal position switch but I phoned KIA supplier and this model
doesn’t have one. Nowhere open til Tuesday, what could it be?
Answer: Your mechanic
should have read the fault/trouble code (“DTC”) from the car. It would
have told you what part is failing. Can you take it to a part store like AutoZone (preferably one that doesn’t charge to read the code)? Shuddering when accelerating from a stop is most likely due to engine misfire – bad distributor, ignition coil, spark plug, or fuel injector.
It sounds like the car is otherwise drive-able, so I doubt it’s related
to the throttle… it would ALWAYS be close to undrive-able.
Again, it’s best to have the code read to be sure. If it is misfire, it may even tell you which cylinder(s) is bad.
