"How To Check Clogged Exhaust on 2003 Nissan Xterra"

Silver 2003 Nissan Xterra Right Side View

I have a 2003 Nissan Xterra that overheats, we have changed the water pump  then taken off the thermostat, replaced the fan clutch and replace the radiator cap. So how do you check for a clogged exhaust?
Answer: If anything is clogged, it’ll be the catalytic converter. They are usually finished somewhere around 50,000 miles. The small pores in the “Cat” get clogged and can cause a lot of restriction to the exhaust system. Simply replacing the “Cat” will restore power and reduce how hard the engine is working.

You may want to have the radiator back flushed before replacing the “Cat”. The radiator can have reduced flow and that will cause the engine to heat up. The radiator should be flushed every couple of years to prevent build up scale.
