"Getting Problems With 1999 Ford Windstar Sliding Door"

Sliding Door on 1999 Ford Windstar

Okay, this is the situation that we have. Our 1999 Ford Windstar minivan has power locks. The lock on the passenger side sliding door sticks badly so we have to open it manually, which is difficult to do. We have tried WD-40, but it works for only a very short time, if at all. All other locks are working well. Any thoughts as to the reason and how to correct it without costing too much?

Answer: For your information, Ford Windstars are bad for door lock actuators in the sliding doors. Go to the local Ford Dealer and have them check the actuator. It will cost probably around 100 dollars for the part, not including labor time. Unforuanately, if this is the problem, there is no uncostly way to fix it, unless you leave the lock as a manual lock.
