"How To Replace The Key Battery on 1995 BMW 740iL"

1995 Green BMW 740iL Front View

I have problems with my BMW key. How to replace key battery for BMW 1995 740 il?

Answer: Your key uses small flat batteries. Some use a single large battery (a CR2032 I believe) others use two small ones. Pop the panel off the back of the key and you will see two small philips screws. Unscrew them and the back cover should come off. Replace the batteries and then put the cover back on. If you do it quickly, your key should work just fine immediately. If not, then the key will need to be reinitialized.
To initialize your key…
Get all your keys you want to initialize, get in the car and close the door. Put the first key in the ignition… turn the key to the on position (where all the instrument cluster lights turn on, but don’t start the car) then turn the key off, remove the key…. push and hold the unlock button, and while holding the unlock button, press the lock button 3 times and then release the unlock button. The door locks should cycle, then immediately pick up the second key, press and hold the unlock button on it and push the lock button 3 times then release the unlock button… again the locks should cycle. If you have more than 2 keys, just keep going until you are done. The first key you do will be key 1, the second Key 2 etc.. important for your memory seat / mirror stuff.
