2007 Dodge Nitro Air Conditioning Electronic Diagram |
I got a 2007 Dodge Nitro. Warranty just ran out so I’m starting to do a little of my own maintenance. Went to do the spark plugs yesterday and I had one plug wire cap that was a major pain to get to. There was a aluminum bar getting in my way that on one end was rubber hose fitted onto the aluminum bar and the other end of the bar was attached to what at first I thought was the alternator
so I removed the bolt holing it on. I know it was a dumb mistake. As
soon as I loosened the bolt it erupted with pressurized fluid kinda oily
to the touch, white in color, but not particularly cold or warm. It
stunk pretty bad too. I tried to tighten up the bolt as fast as I could
but it was too late. I broke some kind of rubber grommet/washer. All the pressure leaked out and when I ran the Air Conditioning
for a minute the air pressure began leaking again. So, how screwed am
I? Should I take it to a place that specializes in A/C? What do you
think it will cost me? Do I need to take my 2007 Dodge Nitro of this
right away? The car runs great otherwise. No warning lights on or
overheating. Thank you to anyone for their expertise.
Answer: Looks like you evidently compromised the
integrity of your A/C System and no doubt have air in your line. Your
A/C has oil in the line as well as Freon. This oil is what lubricates the valves
in your compressor. Since it was compromised you may need your dryer
replaced. In any event, take it to a REPUTABLE A/C shop and tell them
what you did.
