I have a little problems with my 2005 Volvo XC90, 2.5L 5 Cylinder Turbo. I have to replace the painted cover, plug in the sprayer arm to inject the headlamp. How can I get the arm to extend out of the bumper long enough to connect a new cover?

My 2005 Volvo XC90 2.5L 5 cylinders check engine light is on and is on the transmission of service messages. Acts like it gets stuck in a particular gear and wont come out and it makes the unit on the dash indicator goes from D to – and usually disappear until I turn off the car. I go to device on the crank, but again and again gives error codes po717 and PO700.

I have a 2004 Volvo XC90. The owner’s manual says to use of synthetic oil Castrol, and the customers are provided on request. Now then I called a Volvo dealership and an oil change shop and they both told me that Volvo recommends using synthetic oil. Can I not use conventional?

I just have to put rear brake pads on my 97 Volvo 850 Sedan. When I go to drive it and I go to brake both of the rear brakes squeak very loudly. But 10 minutes later, they do not squeak. It is as if the brake fluid is not always to the rear brakes. Brake fluid is full. Would this problems caused by rotors or could be the mechanic put the wrong pads in or other things it could be?

I recently bought an 1992 Volvo 940 Turbo 940 wagon. It needs a lot of work, but I am prepared to spend some money and lots of time on this car. After a few days I’ve discovered some problems- The oil pressure light flickers occasionally at low speed idle. I believe the oil pump is suspect, and plan to change this unless someone has had this problem and had a different remedy. My second problem is that the check engine light is on. Occasionally the light goes out when I pull on the e-brake handle, then comes back on when releasing it (I think there maybe a glitch in the dash / electrical causing that). Is there a way to read the codes without a diagnostic scan tool? Third, after unlocking the driver’s door and opening it, the power lock system makes a lock unlock lock unlock type sound- I think it’s coming from the rear hatch? Could this be a door wiring harness problem? Fourth, the rear hatch wiper occasionally doesn’t ‘park’ flat like it should. Any suggestions?

This question comes from Shawn in Atlanta. He actually have a 1998 Volvo S70, and he would like to find out if it is necessary to replace the engine on his car. He said that his car does have oil/water mixing. He noticed a milky residue on the oil cap, and a few bubbles. The car will start and idle just great, but once driven for 30 minutes until 1 hour, the car will being to shake and stall. Shawn will be going to autozone to rent a compression tester, woud anyone recommend any other tools or diagnosis?
