I am going to the drive in in my 2005 Mazda Tribute. I want to leave the rear hatch open so we can watch the movie. The light stay on and I can not find a switch or anything to turn them off. I want to turn them off when the door is open so that I can watch the movie and my battery in my car will not die. Thanks so much for any help.

I have been experiencing this for about a week. I think this might be the brake pads but then again it might have something to do with the rotor. Sometimes, when I slowly accelerate, I can hear some kind of soft grinding in cycles as the wheels speed up. Then, as I apply gradual pressure to the brakes, the grinding gets worse. Is this common on a car only 3 years old?

I have a 1998 R plate Mazda 626. The ABS light suddenly came on and the problem was a faulty ABS modulator. The car has 130 K on the clock. It works perfectly and I would like to keep it, but the cost of the part is £ 1000! although I find the net for the switch-yard.

Has anyone had this problem with Mazda 626? Any experience or advice would be welcome.

We bought a Mazda MPV 2000 last week, two days later began to leak coolant and overheat. Then it started to smoke under the hood. We have said it to the dealer and his mechanic, it was a broken radiator. Are we to believe that he or she is the most serious problem like a blown head gasket?

I am driving a 1992 Mazda MX-3. It has 285,000 miles on it, so bear that in mind. My car frequently squeals on startup, and for the first 5 seconds to 3 minutes of driving. This issue is shorter or non-existant in the summer, and more towards the multiple minutes in the winter or in the rain.

This morning (20 degrees F outside) as I started it up to go to work, it did the normal belt squealing, but it didn’t really stop until about 5 minutes. When it stopped, it was accompanied by a loud “thunk” sound, and sometime about 5 minutes later, I noticed my dashboard battery light was on. (My e-brake has been disconnected, so there is no tension on it, and that dashboard light frequently comes on for no reason, so I’m not sure whether the battery light came on right away.)

I have about a 25 minute drive to work, and my car is always nice and toasty by the time I arrive. This morning, despite having the heat on, I could see my breath the whole way, despite my engine temp dial being nearly straight up, past the hot zone. My first thought is that my alternator belt was heating up and the idiots at the shop who told me it was normal for old cars and wasn’t a problem didn’t think a bout what would happen if the pulleys for that belt were really cold… So this morning it snapped and my car made it the rest of the way to work on battery. Any other thoughts or advice for what I should do now?

I have a 1998 Mazda 626 GLX hatchback, did a conversion from a FS engine to a B5 1.8 DOHC 16 valve last December. My lines were re-done, leaks repaired and it was working fine. It still is working but the line becomes frozen a little while after the AC is turned on. An electrician suggested I put in a thermostat which I did about 2 months ago, but now I see the problem persisting. I live in the caribbean. I have also noticed that the unit squeals sometimes when I turn it on or at random intervals when it is on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Stephen.

Does the 2008 Mazda cx7 require premium fuel? On their website, it says premium is “recommended” but I’ve read elsewhere that the older models required it and the newer ones do not? I love everything about the car (especially the deal they offered me!) but premium gas is almost $4 I’m SO not paying that much more than the cost of regular. Thanks.
