Does the 2008 Mazda cx7
require premium fuel? On their website, it says premium is “recommended”
but I’ve read elsewhere that the older models required it and the newer
ones do not? I love everything about the
car (especially the deal they offered me!) but premium gas is almost $4
I’m SO not paying that much more than the cost of regular. Thanks.
Answer: The vehicle does NOT require premium fuel
However, the engineers designed the vehicle based off the specifications
of premium fuel so you will gain optimum performance and functionality
by using it. And Using premium fuel occasionally does more harm than
good. You should always stick to the same fuel type consistently. The
biggest reason for that is short and long term fuel trim. A vehicle ‘learns’ the habits of the driver
and compensates accordingly. Changing the volatility of the fuel makes
it harder for the vehicles computer to do its job. So basically, unless
your trying to get the optimum performance level out of your vehicle,
I’d just buy the cheap stuff. The average person wont notice the difference from one fuel type to the other.
