I have a 2004 Volvo XC90. The owner’s manual says to use of synthetic oil Castrol, and the customers are provided on request. Now then I called a Volvo dealership and an oil change shop and they both told me that Volvo recommends using synthetic oil. Can I not use conventional?

Answer: You need to use a synthetic oil of the specified weight in your manual, with no exceptions.
