Silver 1998 Honda Accord EX |
Recently I own an 1998 Honda Accord EX V6 and I want to replace the timing belt and pulley kit. How much would this be from Honda to do or how hard is it to do yourself.
Answer: Honda dealers do a “timing belt package” that includes the timing belt, water pump, coolant flush and all accessory drive belts. The package price varies by dealer and geographical location. In Southern California its $549 at my local Honda dealer. You can get it done for less at independents. If you’ve not done a timing belt
before it will take you about a day to do it in your driveway if you
have a complete set of instructions and a full set of tools. The “book”
time is about 4 hours using power tools and a lift to replace the timing belt, water pump and cam seal. Most shops go at least 150% of the Honda book time for customer paid repairs.
