"Some Smoke Blew-Up From The Air Conditioning Vents on 2000 Dodge Durango"

Silver 2000 Dodge Durango

I have a 2000 Dodge Durango and sometimes there is a stinky smoke blows out of the vents. Does anyone know if that’s what happens when the air conditioning needs to fix? It doesn’t seem to do that when the heat is on but it does it sometimes when nothing is on.
Answer: You can prove it’s a bad heater core by removing the two heater hoses from the passenger side firewall and connecting them together so that the engine coolant can’t flow through the heater core anymore. Smell of the antifreeze coolant in your radiator coolant reservoir and if that’s the smell inside the car, you’ll know also that it’s a bad heater core. Total cost to repair about $500 if they have to remove the dash as on most cars. If it’s a mildew type of smell, it could be the common A/C mold spores growing in your A/C evaporator housing. There’s cleaning services to fix that that your A/C technician does.
