"How To Fix 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Spoiler problems"

Blue 2003 Volkswagen Beetle Rear View

My 2003 Volkswagen Bug has a turbo on it. Well with the turbo it also has a rear spoiler that comes up when you hit 45mph. When it comes up you can hear it but when it comes down it makes a pretty nasty sound. It sound like two pieces of hard plastic rubbing on each other. Can someone please give me an idea on what it is or what I can do to fix it? Thanks for your help.

Answer: Under the dash someplace above the brake pedal is a switch, with the ignition on but car not running, flip the switch and the spoiler will come up. While it’s up, take some 3 n 1 oil or such and lubricate all the levers under the spoiler you can. Then flip the switch back and forth a few times to lubricate everything. The manual suggests lubricating these points, which I believe there are 6 of them, 3 each side every 3 months, more if you live in a rainy area and to clean out any degree, tree twigs, etc that can accumulate under there.
