"Volkswagen Golf GTi: Tuning or ECU Chip?"

2008 Volkswagen Golf mk5 GTi

I have an Volkswagen Golf mk5 gti, and I really wanted to get the APR ECU chip, which according to the APR website gives me about 250 hp on 93 octane, but that will probably void the warranty. I went to the Volkswagen dealer and he said he could tune my car using OCT Tuning, which would give me about 30 more horses. Which one should I go for?

Answer: A tuning box can’t be detected, but an actual remap (flashing the cars ECU) can be detected. It all depends whether the dealer take action on the information. If the dealer will honour the warranty, go with them.
