American car design culminating in the ten years between the end of 1950 and end of 1960. During this time, to meet General Motors, the world’s most powerful department of design and resources every dream design. Working under the guidance of design chief Bill Mitchell produced the GM study of infinite reference designs, like the 1959 Cadillac, Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray, and he Oldsmobile Tornado, Buick Riviera.

Buick Riviera design was considered by many as the most beautiful cars ever seen from a U.S. automobile manufacturer. In contrast to the extravagant designs
popular at the time was the language of the Riviera clean and subtle
design. Details are combined with a European American. His trademark was
the front fenders and sharp egg crate grille embedded between them.

Design aside, the Riviera was pretty conventional – independent body and chassis frame, solid axle rear suspension coil springs, pushrod V8 engine and automatic transmission. As luxury travel,
