My 2000 Hyundai Sonata
Radiator Fan is only working sometimes. Over the past month it has
started to overheat twice. It seems to be intermittent, isn’t happening all the time. Someone looked at it and said that it started when he turned it and said that the motor going out.
Does that sound right? Will it work intermittently until it just goes
out? Wouldn’t it do the same thing if it were a sensor just not telling
it to come on? If the sensor was bad, would the motor keep turning once
it was pushed started, or would it just not send the message for it to
keep running? I’m assuming that he checked the sensor, but don’t know
for sure. I’m guessing that there is a $$ difference between the two
parts and just want to see if I could check something else before I
order the fan.
Answer: I would venture to guess that the fan is
going bad. you can verify by turning on your A/C when it is overheating.
If the fan kicks on and off with the A/C it most likely has a bad
sensor or even more likely a bad wire in the sensor circuit.
