"2004 Mazda RX-8: Need To Reset The ECU"

Black 2004 Mazda RX 8 Front View

I installed a typhoon K&N air intake and also a Greddy SE exhaust on my 2004 Mazda RX-8. Do I need to reset the ecu unit in order for it to get the air/fuel mixture right? Or does it self adjust after a while?
Answer: The K&N shouldn’t need any tuning. I’m not sure about the exhaust, it depends on if you replaced the header, but even then I doubt it. All you have done is increased airflow rates as opposed to changing compression, if you installed a turbo you would want to adjust the amount of fuel because your dealing with forced induction instead of natural aspiration. You don’t need to change anything. To Reset the ECU disconnect your battery for 5mins. Air/Fuel is hard programmed in so it wont matter.
