I have the dreaded ‘F’ code on my Mercedes A170 automatic diesel. I have found a company that repairs the ECU for a quarter of the cost Mercedes charge. But try as I might, I can find no reference to where the ECU is actually located. Can anyone help please.

Answer: It’s inside the box itself and doubt very much that it has failed more likely a solenoid failure on the band mechanism. Try a fluid and filter change first but you will need a Merc DAS to wipe the fault memory.
