"1997 Honda Prelude: Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control Problems"

Black 1997 Honda Prelude Front View

Recently I have Vtec problems on my 1997 Honda Prelude with automatic transmission. I just got check the engine light and now the Vtec doesn’t kick in anymore. I have absolutely no idea what it could be so any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Answer: Well, the ECU needs to read off of a few sensors, for example, the 02 sensor, knock sensor, and other very important sensors to enable vtec. If any sensor is not working properly then it will not engage vtec. heck it could even be a bad vtec solenoid. Your check engine light coming on is a good hint why your vtec aint working all of a sudden. You need to diagnose you check engine light. Any shop will do this for a small fee, they will read out the “code” your ecu is throwing. fix the code/sensor and hear vtec roar once again.
