"Why Changing Oil on 2006 Dodge Viper Needs Special Trained Technicians?"

2006 Dodge Viper Red Coupe

I have a 2006 Dodge Viper and went to a local Dodge dealer to make an appointment for my first oil change. I bought the Viper at another dealership 200 miles away. The service manager said they couldn’t do the oil change because they don’t have any Viper-trained technicians. What is so special or different about changing the oil in a Dodge Viper?

Answer: I am a recently retired Dodge dealer. In order to do any service on a Viper, the dealer must have Viper certified technicians. If not, they cannot work on the vehicle. First of all, many dealers may not even have a lift that goes low enough to lift the car. If the vehicle is put on the wrong type of lift, it can damage the frame.
If you had the vehicle worked on by a dealer that was not certified, it could void your warranty. I know it doesn’t sound right or fair, but that’s the way it is.
