"1991 Toyota Corolla Clutch and Gear Problems"

Black 1991 Toyota Corolla

Greetings to all. I have a 1991 Toyota Corolla with manual transmission in a number of problems with the clutch and gearbox. I’ve got limited knowledge about the car, so I hoped that to some help here. My clutch is very light and there is much to play when I slide up and down, bouncing off by pressing and releasing. It was very difficult at the beginning, put my car and now it is almost impossible. When I have the clutch fully depressed, it is almost impossible, the first or second gear in place. However, I can invest from time to time, however, begins immediately move and occasionally stops to get into gear. I realized that I was trying to put one in the 3rd Gear with the clutch down firmly (loosely, as is) key, and was very slow. What I can understand that the transmission seems fine. Its seems that the said clutch fully depressed marches in. to my fault, I did not have the oil changed in a while. My question is what exactly happened here could be that could be causing this?
More importantly, I’m on how to fix this problem and if anyone could give me an estimate of how much it will cost (South Carolina)? I am a student struggling in school and did not really spend too much on the car. If your face, I am forced to sell. Thanks in advance!

Answer: Your clutch is not “releasing”. I do not think that your clutch is adjustable. Hydraulic actuation. The clutch surfaces and possibly the “throw-out” bearing are not operating properly. They will need to be inspected by a qualified tech and probably replaced. If you continue to drive the car, the transmission will be you next problem. Cost for replacement of clutch and throw-out..$1000 or so.
