2002 Subaru Outback Wagon Rear Left View |
Can I put smaller tires on my Subaru Outback for winter tires? The tires I have on the 2002 Subaru Outback wagon are 225/60-16 and the ones I want to buy are 205/50 16 is it ok besides the speedo being off.
Answer: They will fit
but if it’s for winter, I would go 205/65 or even 60. Lowering the
profile too much will make it look odd and give less tire dampening. Driving in snow
can be harsh on suspension and the wheels because sometimes you don’t
know what’s under the snow if you drive over chunks of ice. A 60 or 65
series tire will give better protection by keeping it close to the stock
tire height especially since the narrower tire will be slightly
stretched on to the wheel.
