"2007 GMC Yukon: How To Repair The Rear Bumper"

Black 2007 GMC Yukon Rear Left View

I dented the passenger-side rear corner of a 2007 GMC Yukon. I did some checking and it appears that with a heat gun and some elbow grease, I can push the dent out from the other side. However, there is a 4 inch crack lining the top side of the dent. The question I have is, how do I completely prep that crack for repainting. What filler material and brand name is recommended for this type of rear bumper (2007 GMC Yukon). Any additional tips on the bumper repair? I’m going to buy the heat gun in today at Loew’s. Please help. I’ve got dent repair guys knocking on my door and hounding me incessantly asking $300-400. Thank you
Answer: Look up www.certifit.com, I just did and the entire rear bumper is around $150, since it is an 2007 take the new bumper to a paint shop and if they charge more than $200 for shooting a current color on a piece only go somewhere else. I also have heard that some body shops don’t like to do certifit bumpers as they get no money for the part so tell them it is from the dealer, they’ll never know the difference and then you put it on. about 10 bolts and 2 hours max. My shop would charge about 175.00 but you have no crack no dent and it looks like new. I use certifit on all m y retro work where the owner doesn’t care if it is original or not, these parts are far superior to the dealers. I use them a lot.
