I have a 2002 Mazda Protege 5 and I need new tires, wanting to know what kind I should be looking at? Basically bought the car used 6 months ago, I knew when I bought it, that I would need to get some tires. I have heard because of the way the car handles, I should be looking at a high performance tire, but since this is my first car. I just need some decent advice.

Answer: The Mazda Protege 5 is a sporty car. Great handling and a bit of Zoom Zoom. That being said, it doesn’t have that much power and so shouldn’t require high performance tires. I went with performance tires that were more than your normal everyday all-weather passenger car tire, 205/45/16 Toyo Proxes4. Unless you will be participating in autocross or trying to recreate scenes from The Fast and The Furious you don’t need to spend the extra money for high performance tires.
