Does anyone know how can I change spark plugs on my 1997 Chevrolet Astro? Is there anything special that I should know before doing this? Thank you very much.
Answer: Just make sure that you have a spark plug
socket. It has a rubber lining inside to help protect the porcelain
casing of the plugs so they don’t break when loosening or tightening.
Also I think it is a good idea to change one at a time and put the wire back on before moving to the next one. This will prevent you from crossing up the wire locations which could have terrible affect. Do one side of the engine then go to the other side. Also when you purchase the spark plugs from the auto parts
store ask them to space them for you to the proper engine specs
(spacing the spark terminal to the filament distance). Improper spacing
can cause the engine to not run correctly and effect gas mileage and spark plug life.
