1999 Buick Lesabre Driver Seat View |
How do I install booster
seat in 1999 Buick Lesabre? Seat belts don’t lock? The seat belts in my
1999 Buick Lesabre don’t lock like when you pull them out completely
and let it retract, they won’t lock. They only have a emergency lock like when you yank on the seat belt really hard very quickly it will catch. How do I install a booster seat when the seat belts don’t lock?
Answer: What you’re wanting is called an Automatic
Locking Re-tractor; what you have is called an Emergency Locking
Retractor. I can assure you that this belt has been tested with car seats,
and will engage if you stop suddenly. An ELR has a pendulum in the
mechanism that, when you hit your brakes, swings out of plumb and locks
up the retractor. If you’re really concerned, you can call your Buick dealer and see if it can be replaced with an ALR.
If you’re still concerned, and they can’t replace it, contact the
person below, and ask him to put you in touch with the appropriate
engineer over that component.
