"Noise Problems on 1990 Audi A80 Fuel Pump"

1990 Audi A80 Front View

Currently I own a 1990 Audi A80. I know in a lot of cars, you can hear the fuel pump start up when you first turn the key, but in this car, the fuel pump makes noise all the time. Is this normal and I haven’t noticed it before on other cars? Or is this a sign the pump is going bad?
Answer: Your fuel pump is on its way out. Most noise from fuel pumps is caused by a build up of sediment in the tank and old age. If you have the pump replaced, MAKE sure the shop completely empties the tank and chemically clean it out.
