"1995 Ford Explorer: How To Remove The Windshield Wiper Arm"

Black 1995 Ford Explorer Front Left View

I’ve got an 1995 Ford Explorer and my driver side windshield wiper doesn’t work. I’ve tried to remove the arm to access the motor to replace it but i can not figure out how to remove the arm.

Answer: If the passenger wiper works, your motor is fine. Ford usually have a cap above the wiper shaft. Remove cap and underneath it is a nut. Remove nut then remove blade. You’ll probably find that the shaft is worn smooth. There should be ridges to catch the arm. Use a vise grip to introduce some new ‘ridges’ to the shaft and hopefully it will hold strong.
