"1996 Volvo 850: What Causes The ABS Fail"

Black 1996 Volvo 850 Front Look
What causes the ABS Controller to fail in the 1996 Volvo 850. How can I fix it? We are aware the controller is bad. However, rebuilds and new ones are $$$. Is there a way to fix it? Once the box is removed, opened and inspected. We find a layer of approx over the circuit board. Can some one give me a detailed manner of which component to replace?

Answer: This is a common fault there is no parts failure just a bad solder joint if you can solder then you can repair it yourself. I’m in the UK but there is a website here called Volvo performance club if you log onto that site and have a look around you will find the instructions to fix it. I’m assuming your car has the abs ecu bolted to the bottom of the abs pump and not the old type with the ecu on the front.
