"1999 Lexus LX470: The Windshield Wipers Won’t Turn Off"

White 1999 Lexus LX470 Left Side View

I have a 1999 Lexus LX470 and the windshield wipers will not turn off. The wipers work at low speed and high speed but cannot be turned off. The intermittent cycle does not work. The front washer was working but now that has also quit. Also, no rear wipers/wash at all. Does this sound like a bad switch or do I need to dig further. Another answer indicated a bad connection at the wiper motor. If so, how do I access the wiper motor? Any help would be appreciated!

Answer: Your on/off functions are located in the switch. If your rear wiper’s power is on the same switch as well I’d say it’s either an electrical connection issue where the wiper switch plugs in, or the switch itself is the problem. If all of your problems are coming from the same switch you can rule out the wiper motor. The wiper motor is located under the plastic shroud in front of the windshield and can be accessed by removing the screws that hold the plastic down. You’ll then see the linkage and motor under it.
