My 2001 Audi A3 (automatic) ABS light stays on. Car passed the test, apart from this light, brakes tested – all fine. Has anyone seen this before?

Answer: I had this with a 1983 Mercedes Benz. It was temperature dependent. In cold weather the light stayed on, once the car had warmed up or the weather did, the light went out, but the ABS worked, you could feel it in the brake pedal. Drove me crazy until we replaced the ABS electronics with a unit from a wreck and the problem went away. Check that the ABS sensors in the brakes at the wheels are clean though.
