"2002 Buick Lesabre Custom: How To Remove The Rear Seat Belt"

2002 Buick Lesabre Custom Rear Seat View

How do I remove the rear seat belt from a 2002 Buick Lesabre Custom? It is broken and I need to replace it!? I have pulled the rear seat up as far as I feel comfortable doing, and I’ve removed the large bolt holding it to the floor, but I cannot get the receptor portion of the buckle to come loose, it seems to be attached to a 3/8″ metal looped rod that is attached under the back of the seat rest.

Answer: Remove the rear seat completely by lifting the back edge of the seat up about 1 foot then push firmly back on the front edge to disengage the front hooks ( both sides ) that will expose the hold down bolts which secure both the bottom of the seat back and the bolts securing the seat belt anchors. Remove the seat back only if necessary. You will need a BIG bad ugly torex drive socket to remove the belt anchors – and an even bigger breaker bar to make them even turn – that or a very powerful air impact wrench (250 foot pound rating).
