Why doesn’t my ignition release my key on a 2003 Cadillac CTS? I drive an 2003 Cadillac CTS and for some reason the ignition will not release my key after turning it to the starting position. As a result, it does not allow me to turn the key to the ‘Lock’ position and won’t release it. I have had to use the ‘Emergency Release’ switch underneath the steering wheel to release the key. Any idea what specific part(s) needs to be replaced to correct this? Just trying to avoid buying the part at the dealership since the part markup is extremely high. Thanks.

Answer: Have you tried to move steering wheel back and forth? Ignition may be loose.
