Silver 2003 Cadillac CTS Rear View |
I have an 2003 Cadillac CTS
that won’t shift out of park or allow me to remove the key from the
ignition sometimes. My “service theft system” light comes on also. One day, while the car was on, my husband got out to get something and the car locked him out. Can anyone give suggestions before I go to the Cadillac dealership and spend a bunch of money? Also, could using a battery other than AC Delco affect the car’s system?
Answer: Sounds like a “shift interlock cable” could
be binding or the “ignition switch” is not working properly. The shift
interlock cable is designed to only allow the driver to move the shifter in/out of gear with the break pedal depressed with the key in the “run” or “on” position. Or the switch is binding not allowing the key to be removed. The batter would not cause this problem.
