I need to replace The Electronic Control Unit on my car. Can someone help me find the location of the ecu on an 1999 Mazda Millenia?
Answer: Try looking behind the radio. If you need to
pull it, you will have to peel back the part of the carpet that is on
the side next to the accelerator pedal, and the same on the opposite side. This will give you access to the wire harness
connectors. These items are a real pain to disconnect. IIRC, there are
3(maybe 4). Each has a tiny release in the top center, you hold it down,
and then pull/pry out the connector. You might want to first try to pry
the connectors off, cause it is really tight in there. The best way is
to press down on the release, and use a screwdriver
to just start to pry off the connector. Once it starts to move, you
don’t have to keep holding the release, and it should come out. If you
cant do it, take it to a pro. Not saying they will have an easier time,
but getting the connectors off can be a very frustrating experience.
Once the connectors are off, it is easy.
