"How To Replace The ABS Sensor on 1998 Nissan Maxima"

Black 1998 Nissan Maxima Left Side View

Could someone please tell me how to replace Rear Right ABS sensor on 1998 Nissan Maxima.

Answer: The following instructions are generic and for a rear disk brake: Look behind the tire, the sensor will usually be held in place with one 10mm bolt. Remove this bolt from the back side of the brake dust shield. Next, disconnect the wire harness. To re-install reverse steps. If you have rear drum brakes, please specify for more detailed instructions.
Note: the ABS sensor is the only thing with a wire going anywhere near the brake. Just be sure you are looking at a wire, not a parking brake cable or brake hose.
If you remove the old sensor and see it is covered with metal bits, clean those off and put the sensor back in. Reset the computer and see if the failure code re-appears.
