White 2004 Nissan Maxima Front Left View |
Can I replace my 2004 Nissan Maxima ABS Module and then have the dealer reflash the CPU to operate it? The ABS module/pump went out in my 2004 Maxima. A/T, no traction control.
I can replace the speed sensors and module, but wasn’t sure if it was
possible to drive the car until the programs were reflashed or if
possible damage would result from the driving.
Answer: Due to the
pumps location I would not attempt that job in the driveway with the car
up on four jack stands wheels off to bleed out all four brakes and
module it self. Even in the repair shop with the best quality
Snap-On line wrenches those 6 lines can round off. Metal lines are
extremely difficult to change out. Use only good quality fresh brake
fluid from an unopened bottle. 1 1/2 quarts should do it do get clear
fluid at each wheel.
Speed sensors at each wheel I have never seen all four active wheel speed sensors fail at the same time. Watch out rust salt states those may be a problem removing the retaining bolt. Get out the WD-40. Also some time I get erratic readings from corroded wheel bearing units with bad speed sensor rings. Good Luck.
