Hi, I have problems about Water leaking and engine overheating on Peugeot 405 1.9 GLX TD? Any ideas about the problem? I pour water in drive about 3 miles its all gone i think its a leak in the radiator or hose going to it if its the hose must be a big hole! Any clarification on this would be great, and as i know nothing about cars how much will a garage charge to fix it? Thanks.

Answer: When your engine has set and is cooled off and is dry. Open the hood put water in the radiator. Don’t start the engine inspect both sides and the bottom of the radiator for for leaks or wet spots. If no success start the engine. Make sure the cap is on the radiator (this builds pressure in the system). Now check the radiator and hoses while pressure is building. Keep checking for several minutes. Also look around the water pump. If the car heats up and the water is gone and you see no leaks. Shut down pull the dip stick out for the oil. Clean it off re-insert and check for water spots in the oil or foam. If you see this you have a serious internal problem. Hoses are simple to replace. For a radiator use a shop that works on cooling systems only (most dealers & shops farm this work out). A water pump is second level any friend with limited experience could help. Oil in the water is quite serious and could be a number of things. Get professional help. Good Luck
