"1973 GMC 454 Big Block Engine Fit in a 1975 Camaro"

GMC 454 Big Block Engine

I have a 454 big block engine from a 1973 GMC 3500, and I am wandering if it will fit in a 1975 Camaro that I believe used to have a 350 or 305? If not, could you tell me about how much it would cost to put the engine in?

Answer: It will fit,the 75 camaro has the same sub frame from 1970 to 1981. There were many big block 70′s Camaro’s running around when i was growing up.
Exhaust manifolds might be different from that truck to the Camaro but it Will drop right down on the factory frame mounts, use the small block motor mounts but get new ones.
The transmission will bolt right up to the big block but pay attention to the flywheel size, you may need to order one threw G.M they are not expensive.
Use the power steering/ac and alternator brackets that are on the big block the small block ones on the Camaro engine are useless.
Now we get to the nitty gritty stuff, radiator and fuel pump,go to a radiator shop that builds radiators and tell them what you are doing and they will build you a nice 4 core radiator for the car,the fuel pump,,try to use the factory pump first off the 305/350 and see if you have frame clearance,if its the short pump you will be fine if its the tall one you might want to go with a electric pump and mount it on the inner fender well. but better to use stock ones. As far as the distributor use the one from the small block,i believe there the same length. Good luck
